So sad to leave Tess' world behind... but I do plan on revisiting as much as possible! The final book in The Gifting series was quite the grand finale! It was full of twists, surprises, betrayal, loyalty, victory, and loss. It had me bawling (literally) and then so happy I had to get up and walk around to calm myself down. The Prophecy is further explained and puzzle pieces are finally in place. Thank you for writing this series and I hope to see more from K.E. Ganshert in the future. This series will forever be the best one ever! (You can probably tell because I finished the book the day it came out....) But I must say: It would have been so cool to see it from Luka's view as well. ;) Anyways, you will not be disappointed! Sad, yes. Excited, yes! But not disappointed!I must add a section of dislikes, now that I have thought it over. Her belief in the supernatural/God wasn't fully explained in the end. Did she realize that someone higher than her was giving her the gifts? God wasn't mentioned, that i can remember, at the end. Although, I will read it again to be sure. The whole attraction thing between Link and Tess through me off a little... But it wasn't much of a surprise. They were good friends in the second book.
I think this series should be made into movies!

The Gathering The Gifting Series Book 3 eBook KE Ganshert Reviews
The Good
I find that I'm sad to see the story over. I'm still very attached to the characters and the world there. I love the mixture of this dystopian world with the paranormal elements of hopping, talking, and fighting through the dream world. The action is incredible, and there is the undercurrent of not being able to trust anyone that I enjoy in stories. I appreciate that at any moment, someone can turn bad.
What makes this series so interesting is the great plot and world mixed with crazy twists and turns. In each book, they are in a different place. This time they are traveling some, and the bridge they went over had my heart thumping like crazy. Then they were in another remote location with more new characters thrown in. I love that each story had some new characters as well and still kept the old. I also think it's great that Ganshert is not afraid to kill off characters. It makes the story that much more impactful.
The Bad
The only gripe I have about The Gathering is how the end seemed wrapped up so quickly. There was a lot going on through this series, and the resolution seemed to creep up on me out of nowhere and end before I was prepared.
The Romance
There's a normal teen romance in this with hurt feelings, jealousy, and infatuation. I enjoyed seeing Luka and Tess grow into a better understanding of each other and finally talk more about how they feel about things. I enjoyed the love they shared and can see it lasting.
Conclusion
This is a great series, and The Gathering is a wonderful way to wrap it up. I happened upon this series through the first one being free on , and am not at all disappointed to have read this gem. It's got a great mixture of loss, death, hope, frustration, love, stubbornness, and redemption in the pages. I loved the characters and was amazed at how many couldn't be trusted or turned out to be a friend in the end. The twists that the story took and all the locations were fantastic. I loved mostly though watching Tess and Luka together fighting in the dream world against the darkness. The Gathering is an excellent end to this great series. Definitely recommended!
"I can't trust anyone." Myself, included. Myself, most of all. I'm always wrong. I trust the wrong people. I accuse the wrong people. "It's like I have no idea which way is up. Nothing feels safe anymore."

“A time approaches when evil will grow to such heights, our kind will face extinction. One will arise with the ability to set captives free. She alone will see evil’s mark and her gifting will be complete in its power. She will be our victory.”
Luka is trapped, but Tess realizes that it is not too late to save him. However, she is not sure that he will ever be the same. She will have to work hard to convince the other members of the Hub that what she saw is true. Their underground community is no longer safe, but neither is above ground. Everyone is focused on the fact that “The Gifting” members are being systematically killed. Tess must decide what she will do with the powers she holds. Can she defeat Scarface and save her grandmother? Will she finally be able to understand the ancient prophecy, of which she is at the center, and fit all the puzzle pieces together? Is she truly prepared for the sacrifice required for victory?
This book is a satisfying conclusion to the series, though it is sad to see it end. It really is necessary to read the books in order. There are great dynamics in the relationships, particularly between Luka and Tess. Like the others in the series, it is an intriguing, multilayered storyline with just the right mix of creepy factor and romance. In general, this series is more hope-filled than some dystopian novels. The entire series is an engaging, quick read which would make a great movie trilogy.
Did I miss the movie(s) ? Why are these not filmed yet? The visuals are stunning, and that's just in my mind's eye! Exciting books, chillingly believable because America is on the path to these dreadful changes. Ganshert writes Christian fiction, but this series is not in that genre. The books contain symbols of faith as well as the truth about forces of good and evil (including the danger of opening yourself to the occult).
***However, an important distinction exists in these novels there are evil spirits portrayed, yet no spiritual counterparts such as angelic beings exist. The humans with "Gifting" must enter the spirit realm, through dreams, to do battle for the forces of good. A secular reader won't care about that, but a Biblically literate one might dispute this fictional interpretation.
The final book ended the trilogy satisfactorily, yet evil is not vanquished in a three part series.
