I enjoyed all of the Veil trilogy, but this was my fave. The pacing of the action was superb, the battle scenes epic, and the shocking deaths of certain characters made me want to simultaneously scream at the writer and sort of give him a high five. It's a gutsy work, full of magic, suspense, people getting nuked, hammers being thrown, and warriors being tested. I loved Hestea, Dietra, Orangebeard, Smallhands and all the merry arse kicking crew. The Sacwaste baddie was a finger breaking mafia style jerk.Product details

Seeking the Veil Part 3 A Hammerblood Story edition by Clifton Hill Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
So much happens in the conclusion of this 3 book prequel to the "Veil of the Warrior". Hestea's character continues to grow and the story plot continues to gripe you on each chapter. A great series and well worth the read.
"Seeking the Veil Part 3 A Hammerblood Story" is the final instalment in this short story series by author Clifton Hill. This e-book was approximately 101 printed pages and sold for $1.99 at time of writing this review.
Please Note I was provided with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
General Theme (minor spoilers)
A few of the ragtag band of mercenaries barely escape with their lives (many did not) from the last battle. This final chapter follows their attempts to warn the land of the coming assault, all the while on the run and just trying to stay alive.
Some thoughts on "Seeking the Veil Part 3"...
1.) the best book in the series by far. Well written with some descriptive passages that create an atmosphere so intense that it's almost impossible to turn the pages fast enough.
2.) hard and fast core of characters make it through this episode. A fitting conclusion to a story where character development has shown a slow and methodical growth. Events have taken not only a physical but also an emotional toll on our heroes... and it's shockingly evident in this third book.
3.) I also appreciated the fact that throughout the course of this 3 book series that that the author could terminate several important characters. These were occurrences that I didn't expect nor did I see coming, but definitely added a degree of realism to this fantasy adventure.
4.) a book of extensive travel... and there is NO MAP. Maps add a sense of distance, direction and topography to any tale, but nonemoreso than medieval fantasy adventure. To me, maps take a really good book and can in some instances, elevate it to that illusive next level... a great book.
Impressions
The tale of Hestea and Gunter is a fabulous venture into the world of medieval sword and sorcery. It is well written and the prose polished.
If you love this genre, I think you'll enjoy this short, three book series.
IMHO this 3rd book was the best of the series.
As it is... 5 Stars.
